Week 1- Exploring our new setting

We experienced our first ‘Forest Friday’ and had lots of fun finding and collecting acorns from the oak tree.
Little Movers September 2025
Autumn Learning- We have engaged in so many learning opportunities based around the season of Autumn from baking to colour mixing, clay and collage.

Pumpkin Exploration
We explored pumpkins in our mud kitchen, made pumpkin cakes with an acorn on the top and pumpkin soup with lots of mud!

The Three Little Pigs
Our core text is The Three Little Pigs and the children have been inspired to do lots of building and role play! We used stickle bricks, wooden blocks, plastic crates and loose parts to create our houses. We also made some sloppy cement and took on the role of being a builder. Some children worked in Crafty Corner to make representations from the book.

So many learning opportunities in Nursery this week! We continued with our Three Little Pigs work, used tools, made junk model houses, and then we learned about hedgehogs. In the Autumn they are preparing to hibernate and we used their ‘spiky spines’ as an inspiration for lots of fine motor skills development.

We have spent lots of time this week exploring the shapes and colours of fireworks.
We used this as inspiration for movements, art and dance.
We have also worked on our Little Red Hen story, making story maps and then helping Mrs Raine to bake some bread!

We used large movements to tell the story of The little Red He.
We worked in teams to plant seeds, we crawled over the mats to ‘water ‘ the seeds, and we climbed up the ‘windmill’ to get the wheat to the miller. Such wonderful teamwork and lots of determination to complete the activities.

Nursery had lots of fun in the snow!

As part of our Brown Bear, Brown Bear book we did lots of sorting. The children were brilliant at ‘touch counting’ and matching colours.
