We had lots of fun through our story ‘The Gruffalo’. We read and retold the story, created homes for the animals, made some beautiful representations of the characters using paint and collage, played a maths game to count and collect nuts, made our own Gruffalo crumble and even did some Gruffalo yoga moves!

We participated in the RSPB Great Garden Birdwatch! We learned about different types of birds we might see in our garden and then we used our binoculars to look for them. Some children were great at making tally marks to show how many of each species we spotted. We also made two different types of bird feeder to encourage more birds to come into our garden and to help them to find food when there are no berries growing yet.

We have been learning all about germs and how it is important to wash our hands.

Mrs Raine put lots of ‘sneeze germs’ around our Nursery because she forgot to catch her sneeze and didn’t wash her hands!

We all know how to clean our hands using soap which will help to keep us healthy.

This week we thought about which foods are healthy and which are treats.

We have been working on speaking in full sentences, for example ‘I can see the long stalk’ on the apple. We opened a ‘Healthy Eating Cafe’, and we designed and made our own fruit salad. Delicious and healthy!

Careers Day – So many jobs use numbers!

When we grow up we would like to be………

Shrove Tuesday Activities!

We played pancake races, egg and spoon races, sang pancake songs, learned the Makaton signs as instructions for making pancakes and then we made our own. We followed a recipe and whisked the ingredients together. Mrs Raine cooked the batter and then the children all enjoyed eating them!

We had a great week in Nursery celebrating World Book Day. We loved having ‘Breakfast and a Book’ with our families, sharing stories with our Year 5 and 6 friends and dressing up as our favorite characters.
