It’s Christmas Party Time!

Science

We have been learning about the digestive system and carried out an experiment to see how the process works. It was very yukky, but we loved it!

History

As part of a homework activity, we had to make a Roman shield. This was also linked to our History lesson about the Roman Army. Once we had returned our shields to school, we practiced some of the positions and formations of the Roman Army that they used when they were in battle.

Bikeability

We all took part in a virtual bikeability session and learned how to stay safe on our bikes whilst out and about.

Fire Safety

A Fire Safety Officer came in to school and talked to us about how to stay safe in our homes. We now all have the job of being our family fire safety officer.

Year 4 Whole School Celebration of the Word

Visit to Church

We visited the church and took part in Mass with some of the other parishioners.

Wellbeing Wednesday – Yoga

As part of Wellbeing Wednesday some of the children in our class have been doing a weekly yoga session.

English

We are now reading How to Train your Dragon. We have been looking out for unfamiliar words and finding out their meaning. We hope to use some of these words in our future writing.

History

Who were the Romans?

We have been researching facts about the Romans. We know that Romans originated from the city of Rome in modern day Italy, they had a thirst for wealth and power, the last emperor of the Roman empire was Romulus Augustulus and that the Roman empire lasted for over 1000 years.

English

As part of our transition into Year 4, we have been reading the book, Felix After the Rain. In this lesson, we focused on the four Key Scenes and talked to our partner about each of them. Thinking about what is happening, what has happened before, what will happen next, how Felix is feeling and how we would feel.

We then listened to four pieces of music and matched the mood of the scenes with the mood of the music. We devised short movements about each of the four scenes thinking about how we could move and the shapes that we could make to show how Felix would be standing, how he would move, what he would feel about his surroundings and what body shapes and facial expressions could show this. We then experienced and performed all our movements to the music.
