Saint Vincent de Paul Centre
We visited the SVP Centre in Newcastle to look at how people put their faith into action at the Justice and Peace Refugee Project. The refugee project offers a warm welcome and provides basic support for those seeking asylum and refuge in our community. The Refugee Project has offered a caring heart, a listening ear and a helping hand to our regions most vulnerable people for over twenty years. We live in a troubled world where people are having to flee from persecution and danger on a daily basis. Your support can help bring Christs healing love into some very difficult situations.

Rosary- October
October is the month of the rosary in our church. It highlights the significance of the rosary as a powerful prayer and devotion within our faith.

DT- Cooking
For our DT topic this term we have been investigating Cooking and Nutrition. Our aim was to produce a healthy vegetable curry. We examined ingredients and identified potential allergies and intolerances and also thought about hygiene rules. After we made the curry we then evaluated the taste.

A Snowy Day at St. Oswald’s
We had so much fun outside today, we made snowmen called Bob and Tilly.

Science- Electricity
Today during our Science lesson we began a science investigation using a series circuit. Year 6 made a hypothesis regarding what would happen when we add more cells to a circuit. We made observational drawings using the correct scientific symbols and noted down our results in a table.

Geography
In our geography topic this half term we have been learning about Biomes. As part of this learning we have been thinking about what the rainforest does for us. This week we investigated the death of Carlos Mendes who was killed because he believed we need to protect them. The children looked at the possible culprits and together decided who they thought was the most likely suspect.

School Sports Partnership
As part of the School Sports Partnership we were invited to take part in an athletics competition at Temple Park Leisure Centre. The year six children were all involved in this multi-skills event and competed against many other schools in the borough.
