Our Art Journey

In Year 2 we have been focusing on our new Art topic this term, ‘Mask Marvels’. So far we have looked at images of masks from all around the world. We looked at masks through history, from different countries, festivals and cultures. Later, we looked at the inspiring and creative artwork of Esther Mahlangu. We all loved her artwork using bold, colourful patterns which showed how proud she was of her culture and family. We have made our own artowkr inspired by Esther Mahlangu’s work. We hope you like our work and you can see how we have used her artistist style to create our own.

Later in our Art unit we will be making our own masks. Before we can do this, we need to explore the textures can create using a variety of materials. We have been exploring how to create a range of textures using cardboard, paper and wool. We were very creative and had lots of fantastic ideas. We cannot wait to make our own masks and see the final results!
